The different types of CBD oils
If you’ve already done some searching on the Internet for CBD oils, you’ll probably have noticed that you’re inundated with information that often seems contradictory. Maybe you have already given up hope and you are done with all those oils that are written about. We understand that and therefore want to offer you more clarity about the various CBD oils in this article. After all, there are several different oils available. Moreover, some names refer to the same type of oil.
For example, we know CBD oil, also known as hemp oil. We also know CBD oil, also known as THC oil. What exactly are these oils? How do they differ from each other? Read this article to find out.
What is CBD oil?
CBD oil is made from the hemp plant. This plant contains 104 different substances and two of those popular substances are cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The CBD plant can be roughly divided into two types: the hemp plant and the hemp plant.
CBD is obtained from the hemp plant and this plant contains only traces of THC. The hemp plant is therefore legal in the Netherlands and the plant is used for various purposes.
From the hemp plant, mainly THC is obtained. There is both hemp oil and CBD oil. Both oils are CBD oils, because they come from the CBD plant, but each from a different species of CBD plant.
CBD oil is the collective name for all types of oils that are extracted from the hemp plant.
What is CBD oil?
CBD oil comes from the hemp plant. Hemp oil, also known as THC oil, contains a high THC content and a low CBD content. Because of the psychoactive components of THC, the oil is not legally available in the Netherlands. Rick Simpson oil is a well-known type of CBD oil, however, this oil cannot be legally purchased in the Netherlands due to the presence of a high percentage of THC. However, hemp oil or THC oil is in some cases available on doctor’s prescription. Of course you can make your own THC oil, but this is not legal and not always safe.
Each different kind of oil is produced in a different way. CBD oil, for example, is produced through CO2 extraction. Thanks to this extraction method, it is possible to largely filter out the psychoactive substance THC. For this reason, CBD is also not psychoactive and completely legal. But, how is CBD oil produced? Oils in which the preservation of THC is important are produced by alcohol extraction. In this case, the alcohol serves as a solvent in which the THC is completely dissolved. The alcohol is then evaporated and when this process is finished, a highly concentrated THC paste remains. This paste is mixed with olive or hemp seed oil. The most common dilution of CBD oil is 5 times diluted.
What can medicinal CBD help with?
There is plenty of research being done on CBD oil. More studies are being done on CBD than on THC, because THC is not a legal substance and therefore grants for the studies are difficult to obtain. So far it can be concluded that many scientists are enthusiastic about CBD, but unfortunately the law prevents us from making statements about the benefits CBD can provide.
What dosage for CBD oil?
The dosage of CBD oil is different for each person. A playing factor here is what concentration of CBD the oil contains. As you can see in our webshop, there are many oils with different concentrations of CBD. We always recommend first keeping to the dosage as described in the instructions for use. You can experiment a little with this yourself. Always listen to your own body though.
Active substances in CBD oil
The tiny hairs on the CBD plant are responsible for the secretion of a resinous fluid, containing the active substances. When we talk about active substances, in the case of the CBD plant we are mainly talking about cannabinoids. The two best known cannabinoids are CBD and THC.
Apart from CBD and THC, the CBD plant contains about 70 other cannabinoids. All of these cannabinoids are very similar to THC and CBD, yet each active component has a different property. The other cannabinoids are also being studied more and more, as they can also be used for different purposes, just like CBD and THC. Examples of other cannabinoids are: CBN, CBG, CBC and 8-THC. When all of these substances occur together in one oil, the entourage effect will occur. When the active substances are active together, the substances will reinforce each other and in this way will be more effective.
